October Babies

At the eleventh hour, right down to the wire, and in the nick of time I present to you the 2014 installment of my October Babies. Fun side note: When Jack and Abby were younger, Pauly was uncomfortable being in public alone with them because he thought people would think they were his babies. I don’t know, maybe he still feels that way haha.

I don’t strive for perfection when taking pictures of my kids. It’s unrealistic and it’s not our reality. If I get them into the clothes I’ve picked, I consider myself lucky (Abby currently has a pair of ugly orange shorts that she vehemently insists on wearing 24/7). And don’t even get me started on HAIR. My “session” length is embarrassingly short. I’m talking 5-10 minutes of “posing.” So my preference is to shoot candid shots during our Little Adventures when they aren’t paying as much attention to my and my camera. The next best thing is to whip out some distractions a.k.a. PROPS. I make sure the props are something they have never seen before so that they are sure to hold their attention for at least 30 seconds, things that go along with the picture theme that I don’t mind actually having in the pictures. Laser guns. Party noisemakers. Bird cage & blackbirds! Even with these distractions my time was short. The sun was setting, Jack was full of 4 year old boy squirmies, and Abby after 5 minutes turned into a wee-nager, frowned up, and stomped away. But it’s all good. It’s our family the way it is at this point in our crazy life together. And I still got some pretty cute shots of my lovely “babies.”

*Sigh*  Goodbye October, my favorite month of all the months.  You’ve been beautiful and I’ll miss you and cry for you as our days shed their light and my toes get cold and my skin gets dry and itchy… ugh and sigh.

I’d have you photograph my kids any day! Each one is a little vignette, a snipet of your beautiful kids, memory. Each is quite beautiful.
