Little Adventures, Season 1 Episode 4

This week’s little adventure took us to Giant Oak Park on High Street in Peoria.  From the Peoria Park District website:

“Giant Oak Park is one of the District’s smallest parks, with a single tree and a giant name.

It contains a small parking and picnic area, and is home to a large burr oak tree, believed to be at least 300 years old. Its branches span at least 100 feet and the trunk is 13 feet in circumference. This park features the Historic Easton Fountain as a part of its landscape.”

Now I have been on High Street before, but couldn’t for the life of me remember seeing any special tree or park.  I was probably too busy gawking at old houses, as I tend to do 🙂  The description above didn’t strike me as the funnest place to take the shorties, but since it would be a quick trip I figured they could humor me.

Surprisingly, they actually had a lot of fun.  They ate snow off of park benches, chased each other up and down the short paths, and crawled under railings (?!).  I just love that they’re at the age where they start making up their own games!  Oh, and the Easton Fountain makes a great drive thru window 🙂
